Quepos And Manuel Antonio Sodas
Here you'll find a list of the best Quepos and Manuel Antonio sodas. The typical Costa Rican soda represents a great, inexpensive sampling of Costa Rican home cooking.
Every soda serves, among it's dishes, the Costa Rican standard--Casado. It's Spanish for "married" and typically includes rice/mashed potatoes, black beans, a salad, and a choice of fish, a dry beef slice, beef and gravy, chicken, egg, and perhaps liver. It may also include natural fruit juice to drink.
Unfortunately, inflation has caused the price of a casado to go from $3 to around $4-$5 in the past ten years. Still a bargain for hearty appetites!
While there may be provided a jar of spicy, cold vegetable mix if you wish to liven up your meal, don't expect to see ground black pepper around, unless the soda caters a lot to demanding Gringos.
The quality of coffee will vary for each soda, but make note that "cafe con leche" is actually milk with a little coffee. So be sure to empasize, "Solo un poco leche, por favor", if you prefer coffee with milk. Unless the soda serves the milk separately.
I highly recommend that you dine at a soda at least once during your stay. But be aware that some sodas serve bigger and tastier portions than others. That's why this site encourages visitors to return and comment on/rate the places they've tried.
