When in Quepos and Manuel Antonio shopping for groceries and supplies, there are a few time-saving things to know. THIS is the page with all your options when needing groceries and/or supplies while in our area.

First of all, most of the smaller and larger stores in all of Costa Rica begin with the word "Super" along with one other word, or somebody's first name in the case of the smaller stores.

The many neighborhood convenience stores are, well, convenient. The trade-off is that there's not much selection and the prices are fairly high.

In Manuel Antonio, the dominant larger type grocery and liquor store is Super Joseth with two locations. One is about 100 yards south of the soccer field and the other is in front of the main beach.

In Quepos the dominant grocery store is SuperMas, across from the buses. Both of these stores have, by far, the widest selection of groceries and supplies in our area.

The trade-off is they both generally have the highest prices in town, though in many cases, comparable to the convenience stores.

As in much of the world, the local Wal-Mart owned store, Pali (only in Quepos), represents the lowest priced grocery shopping in the entire area. The trade-off being somewhat limited selection and, in my experience, almost always aggravatingly slow and minimal checkout lines.
